Donald Trump ban
The u.s put a travel ban on Nigeria and the Nigerian federal government is trying to see how possible it is to uplift this us travel ban. Do you want to know why? It is no longer news that since the coming of Trump, Nigerians have not had it easy with the united states. He has changed so may visa policies from the previous administration.
The Federal Government has called on the United States to review the travel ban and remove Nigeria from its list of visa restrictions.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made this plea to the U.S ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard in Abuja during a visit.
Aregbesola said that Nigeria is a close ally of America and that the travel ban should be dropped because Nigeria had complied with most of the concerns raised by the United States. Nigeria is too important an ally of America to be placed on a ban but believes this will be sorted.
REASONS FOR THE TRUMP U.S TRAVEL BAN
The U.S. President Donald Trump included Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar, in an expanded version of his travel ban list. The reason given was that the countries failed to meet U.S. security and information-sharing standards necessitating the new restrictions.
The original travel ban was issued in 2017 and barred nearly all immigrants and travelers from seven countries with majority Muslim populations. Although the US has already stated that the ban is temporary and would be lifted once Nigeria meets up to the conditions. One of the conditions involves Nigeria improving its data intelligence such that it would be easy to investigate any immigrant wishing to visit the United States and meet information-sharing systems.
Also, note that the ban is to a specific class of u.s visa. The ban mostly affects immigrants visas.
Well if you look at the reasons, it kind of make sense . If only our government will listen to their terms and put things in order in this country once and for all, its well .
